"Project SOS is probably THE most impressive nonprofit I have ever heard of!"
-- Comment from a Fernandina Beach Rotarian
Welcome to Project SOS!
This past school year we had the opportunity to affect the lives of 14,316 Jacksonville-area students in local middle and high schools by helping them have the skills to reach their goals while avoiding teen pregnancy, unhealthy relationships, bullying, drugs, alcohol, suicide and violence.
Making a Difference in Teens' Lives Around the World
Our school programs are not only in North Florida and South Georgia, but have been replicated in 13 cities throughout Russia, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and in Uganda. Our long-term goal is to establish Project SOS offices in five additional cities in Florida and eventually five more throughout the nation so we can shape the lives of one million youth and parents annually.
Promoting Healthy Relationships
Not only does Project SOS help our youth, but we also know that strong families are the key to healthy communities. We are building healthy relationships with individuals and couples by teaching them communication skills, parenting skills, debt management and conflict resolution techniques. In addition, enrolled clients are offered job readiness skills, pre-marital counseling, mentoring and life coaching. All classes are free to those who qualify. Funding is provided by a federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Family Assistance, Grant #90FM0033.
