Project SOS was founded 20 years ago when Dr. Pam Mullarkey had to tell a neighbor that her straight-A high school freshman daughter was pregnant. There was a burden placed on Dr. Mullarkey’s heart when she learned this young child did not have the skills she needed to set personal boundaries, or any refusal skills to help her avoid unhealthy life choices.
Dr. Mullarkey set about writing a business plan that began at her kitchen table. It turned into teaching over 380,000 teenagers about goal setting, refusal skills, boundaries, bullying, avoiding drugs and alcohol, teen violence and suicide. Project SOS has had the privilege to serve teenagers in not only North Florida and Southeast Georgia, but in Russia, Uganda and Haiti also.
